What We Do

Home is Where We Start From

Here at Home-Start Clackmannanshire, we offer a unique service providing practical and emotional support to families with young children living across Clackmannanshire. Free of judgement, we offer compassionate, individual, and confidential support to young families.

We offer support to families who are struggling to get through the day due to their daily challenges. While every family’s challenges are unique, their struggles do tend to have similar origins:

Because Childhood Can't Wait

The early years of a child’s life are vital. Difficulties such as isolation, mental health challenges, financial stress, or lack of support can have a significant impact on family wellbeing.

Our support helps families build confidence, strengthen relationships, and feel less alone during these important early years.

How We Support Families

We provide flexible, relationship-based support tailored to the needs of each family. This includes:

Emotional Support

Helping parents/carers manage stress, anxiety, and emotional wellbeing through consistent, non-judgemental support.

Practical Support

Supporting families with everyday challenges such as routines, confidence building, and accessing local services.

Home-Based Support

Offering one-to-one support in the family home through one of our wonderful volunteers, or our Family Support Workers/Co-Ordinators

Group & Community Support

Providing opportunities for parents/carers and children to connect through local groups and activities.

Early Intervention Support

Working with families early to prevent crisis and improve long-term outcomes for children.

Bumps to Babies (Perinatal Infant Mental Health Support)

Pregnancy and the early years of parenthood can bring joy, but they can also be overwhelming.

Our Bumps to Babies service provides a safe, supportive space for expectant and new mums who may be experiencing, or are at greater risk of experiencing, perinatal mental health challenges. We offer practical and emotional support to help reduce isolation, build confidence, and strengthen the bond between parent and baby.

The first 1,001 days of a child’s life – from pregnancy to their second birthday – are a crucial time for a child’s development. Research shows that these early experiences help shape emotional wellbeing, relationships, confidence, and resilience for years to come.

Our Bumps to Babies service is available from pregnancy until a child turns two. During 2025–2026, we supported 28 families across Clackmannanshire, including 4 families during pregnancy.

Peer Support Groups

Our peer support groups provide a welcoming space where parents can connect with others who understand the challenges of early parenthood. Led by our Perinatal Infant Mental Health Champion, alongside Group Workers and volunteers with lived experience, the sessions combine emotional support, practical activities, and opportunities for parents and babies to play and bond together. Families tell us the groups help them to feel less isolated, better understand their mental health, develop coping strategies, and grow in confidence and self-esteem.

Baby Massage

Nurturing touch can have a positive impact on both parent and baby, supporting emotional wellbeing, relaxation, and early attachment. We have two IAIM registered baby massage instructors and run baby massage sessions throughout the year. Where there is a need, we can also provide one-to-one sessions in families’ homes.

One-to-One Support

We know that joining a group can feel daunting, especially during pregnancy or with a new baby. For families who would benefit from more personalised support, our Perinatal Infant Mental Health Champion offers one-to-one sessions, usually in the family home or out in the community, helping parents build confidence and connect with local services and support networks.

The Difference We Make

We know our Bumps to Babies service is making a positive difference for local families. At the end of the 2025–2026 year:
